Studies in CI are based on a cooperative relationship between a student and a tutor. The tutor is generally a researcher from either a Polish or a foreign university - the student chooses his/her tutor at the beginning of the academic year. The nature of the relationship is determined by both parties and enables the student to gain knowledge and abilities in various, so far unexplored, areas. This relationship also leads to the encouragement of more collaborative research studies. At the end of the academic year, the student presents a dissertation which can take the form of an essay or a scientific study. It is then presented to the Scientific Council and the Management Board of the Association and is the basis to assign credit for the previous year's work. The student is also responsible for presenting the research with the tutor at a seminary or scientific camp at least every second year.
CI students receive reimbursement for the cost of the tutorial. This typically includes travelling expenses, the cost of books, any necessary materials crucial to performing scientific experiments, and any fees connected with participation in scientific conferences. The studies in Collegium can be completed once the student passes the master's degree exam, but may be prolonged until the end of doctoral studies, but the overall duration cannot exceed seven years.
