The annual scientific camps are required for all CI students to get credit for the academic year. However, they also provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and the presentation of the student's work. These camps are closed to outside participants. Students, in cooperation with their tutors, deliver lectures or prepare workshops. To chair the above mentioned projects, a variety of outside researchers are invited, who are not members of the Collegium.
Scientific camps aim not only at the presentation of students' work related to a great variety of areas, but also at the integration of the CI members. From this integration, students not only have the opportunity to strengthen friendships, but also to make new contacts with established researchers in the same field as their area of interest. Ultimately, new thematic research groups can be formed. Futhermore, the scientific camps enable older and more experienced CI students to help newer members still in the initial phases of their studies. Last, but not least, the public presentation of the dissertations to other students stimulates future research work.
